About Idaho Hand Center

We are Idaho's largest, independent orthopedic practice dedicated to problems of the hand, wrist and elbow.

The Idaho Hand Center strives to provide and coordinate all aspects of your care, including x-rays and splinting as well as on site therapy and in-office minor surgical procedures. The courteous administrative staff are trained to help you with scheduling and insurance questions.

Jeffrey Boyer, M.D.

Dr. Jeffrey S. Boyer was raised in eastern Idaho. He received his BS from Brigham Young University, graduating summa cum laude. He completed medical school through University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle.

Cara Lorentzen, M.D.

Cara Lorentzen, M.D., was raised in North Little Rock, AR. She graduated cum laude with a degree in Biology from Davidson College in Davidson, NC. She then attended medical school at Wake Forest University and remained at Wake Forest to complete her residency in Orthopaedic Surgery.

Johnson, M.D.

Jayson C. Johnson M.D., was born and raised in southeastern Idaho. He studied exercise physiology and Spanish while attending Brigham Young University in Utah. He earned a medical degree at McGovern Medical School in Houston, Texas.

Lauren Bechtold, M.D.

Lauren Bechtold, M.D., was raised in Post Falls, Idaho. She attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID, graduating with Bachelors of Sciences in Microbiology and Psychology. She earned her medical degree at the University of Washington in Seattle before moving to the midwest to complete her residency in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Barnes Jewish Hospital/Washington University in Saint Louis, MO.

Shane Haas, PA-C

Shane Haas PA-C, was born in sunny Anaheim California and raised in rainy (but beautiful) Bellingham, WA. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Health Science from Brigham Young University –Idaho and a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from Touro University Nevada. He became a board certified Physician Assistant in November 2014 and began practicing general orthopedics soon after.
